THE PEOPLE WE SERVE

Andre had lived in several places before moving into Morton House; he has now been in his own apartment for the last 23 years.

Esther
was afraid to leave a locked state facility before calling to say she wanted to move into Sandalwood House.  She has been in her own apartment since 1998.

Betty came to us when three social workers dropped her off at Lakeside House directly from the emergency room due to out of control behavior.  She is now in her own apartment and has been living independently since 1996.

Henry was living on the streets with his mother before moving into Buena Valley House.  He recently called to say he was living in a house with his buddies and working full time.

Al
had 51 placements - 51 - before moving to DSC Tommy House.  He was in his own apartment for nearly five years being supported by DSC until he died of cancer last year.  We were with him to the end.

Ryan
was born a drug baby.  He had had 12 previous placements before moving into Helix House at age 11.  He is making plans to move out within the next year and live independently.  He is our resident expert on the Metropolitan Transit System!

Darrell
had been sent to continuation school, virtually given up on.  After being with us, he was able to expunge his records through the court system and is now living independently.

Terry
had spent 35 years in locked state and county facilities.  He has been in his own apartment for three years.

Clayton
was in jail before moving into Sandalwood House.  He has been in his own apartment for the last ten years and works full time.

Owen
was attending a psychiatric day program.  He now volunteers five days for 30 hours a week in a rehabilitation facility.
